Collection: MAYA

I’m Somaya Ahmadi, a fashion student based in Melbourne and an alumni from The Social Studio. After a change of heart from studying makeup and beauty, I decided to take on fashion designing as my career due to my passion for clothing and textile. Since I was very young, I remember making outfits out of scrap fabrics for my dolls when playing with my cousins, and that’s when the passion for fashion designing sparked in me. Through my label Maya Amadi, I want to create unique pieces that make my customers feel valued and loved when wearing my brand. My current collection is deeply inspired by my heritage, blending modern designs with intricate Afghan hand embroidery. In addition to studying fashion, I’ve launched my own label and have the privilege of working alongside my incredible mother, who creates the hand embroidery for my pieces. I’m excited for what the future holds and look forward to growing both professionally and personally.
